Lafayette field hockey players celebrate a goalA matching gift challenge recently raised $41,700 for the field hockey program in just two weeks.

“The value of these gifts is monumental for our student-athletes,” says head coach Jennifer Stone ’04. “Every program at Lafayette is looking to be a championship program, and this isn’t possible without the support of our donors. Every dollar raised helps our student-athletes. I want to extend a sincere thanks to everyone who supported the program during this challenge, and a particular thanks to the leadership within our Friends of Field Hockey Executive Committee who helped us get there.”

The challenge began Sept. 19 through a pledge from an anonymous donor to match all gifts to the field hockey program through Oct. 3, up to a total of $15,000.

When contributions surpassed the initial target, the donor agreed to raise the match to $20,000. The challenge ultimately finished by raising $21,700 from 71 donors.
