All year the staff here in the Annual Fund have been thinking, talking, and wondering about the “Common Thread” that ties the Lafayette community together. What is the thread that links a bunch of wide-eyed eighteen year olds to the distinguished gentlemen of the Class of ’62 to the generations of Leopards in-between?
It’s taken us eleven months to get to this point, but here is our working hypothesis. We are held together by the:
that Lafayette gave us as students and continues to provide us as alumni. It’s the randomly-assigned roommate who became our best friend, the elective course we took on a whim that changed our major and our career aspirations, and the sense of comraderie that we felt at our first Lafayette-Lehigh football game that keep us connected to each other and to the College today.
This month, as we look ahead to the end of the fiscal year on June 30th and aim to reach our 40% alumni giving participation goal, we will be inviting alumni and friends to share their own reflections about our Common Thread. Make sure you “like” the Lafayette College Alumni Facebook page and follow “@LafayetteAlumni” on Twitter to join the conversation and share your own stories of “Our Common Thread.” And, if you haven’t already, make your gift to the Lafayette Annual Fund today!
